The team now has an SVN server. You will find the details, a short explanation of what this means, and some other info below.
1. What is an SVN?
Basically, it is source control. With this service, all of the dev team has access to the source files at all times, all changes are reflected automatically in the source, all changes are noted, backups are made, etc. Basically, it is totally awesome.
2. How do I use it?
Firstly, you will need to create a user account at the following URL:
http://www.xp-dev.com/registerSecondly, you will need to contact Mordred and inform him of your account name.
Thirdly, you will need to download an SVN client. ( Windows client:
http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads.html, Linux clients - install any subversion GUI you like )
3. I now have an SVN client. What do I do with it?
- Connect to:
https://svn3.xp-dev.com/svn/PoP4/ - Use the "Checkout" option in your client to obtain a recent copy of the source code. Store it to a local folder.
- Edit your files.
- When you are done editing your files and want to upload them to the SVN, select your files and use the "Commit" option in your client. Enter a description of why you are changing the files.
- Magic.
4. How do I use the bug tracker?
- On the POP 4 project page, select "Project Tracking".
- You can, from this page, create, edit and/or comment on bugs, as well as track project progress.
