Weapon:
Required dex 25
Required str 15

for every dex over 25 +10 damage


Weapon:
required str 20 iron flesh 5 power draw 6

dam = dam + str

throwing weapon:

req: no shield, str 15, power throw 5.

Bonus damage to horses (like 125) bonus damage to shields.

Helm:

req: 25 ch

gives +2 leadership, +2 iron flesh, +2 tactics

Just thoughts for unique weapons, pretty sure we can add requirements, just curious what the possibilities were.

I'm no expert, but I think I know the answers here.

I don't think so, I believe the stat restrictions are hardcoded. The items data merely has a "difficulty()" function that doesn't let you specify, which probably adjusts to STR / Power Draw / Power Throw based on the type of item. Would like to be proven wrong.

Nope. If it's a bow, of course power draw is a valid requirement.

Yes to no shield and power throw, but no to STR. See above about requirements

Don't think so, see above about the requirements. There is perhaps a workaround for this where we could add the stats through scripts, but I think that would get tricky because you'd be able to take off the helmet and keep the stats until we called the script again.

I think this is one of the best methods to force people to use specific sets of armour/weapon for different builds.
Code-wise its not too hard to implement, but it needs some amount of scripting work to reorganize the items.py

Beside balancing things like archers etc, this can also be a great resource to give out unique kind of sets from gods / quest rewards...
As far as i can see this should also work for NPC troops.

I realize my statement didnt make sense, sorry, on vacation and very very very tired right now. Drove into colorado the other day and i havent stopped moving since. Internet is crap here.

Is there any duct tape we can code over this, I know books for example, add stat increases, we should be able to do something with that, and i know we can require str, maybe we can do a work around with minimal effort to include other stats. For example, I want attack speed to REQUIRE a certain amount of dex at set intervals.

Any chance MV or TB have any thoughts on this, thanks for your reply! I would love to hear more thoughts from you as well. Taking a system like this would instantly make our mod better than the others, making it more like a fallout rpg experience.

I vote yes on that. There were paintings of medieval full plated archers but that was merly a fantasy. No one is able to draw a bow at full power in plate armor. If he has armor it's probably half armor with reduced defence to gain mobility like here:

Also note, plate armor was VERY expensive at the time and most archers were simply peasants with a knack for bows , hence they would never be able to afford one. Next. The archer on the pic (link above) is actually a VERY rich archer, ha has a kettle hat with mail coif, gambeson with studded leather and well probably some leg protection. Archers would usually have two areas protected. Head (for obvious reasons) and legs ( It's hard to run when you're leg is crippled). Most of body armor would consist of padded cloth or gambesons. Next, archers would not use full helmets since aiming a bow in such is impossible (see how the bow is amed, it requires you're line sight along the arrow). Some would carry bucklers, almost all had a sword or a hatchet just in case. However thwey were not armed well for melee combat. Usually when melee would occur they would simply run. They did not use gauntlets. Ever. Fiering a bow in plated gloves is simply fantasy, well unless you have Visby type 3 gloves ( http://www.siwogrod.pl/photos/S6302641.JPG , note that in archer's version isntead of the glove there were simple leather hoods for the tip of your fingers) but those were very expensive and still would greatly limit a fine archer.

So yeah. I guess I drifted a bit but to put it into a nut shell, I vote yes on item builds. And no gloves for archers, ever!

Item builds sounds cool. Keep in mind that gameplay trumps realism, but it makes sense here ... make sets which reward players for taking riskier armor choices (i.e., not full plate).

would you be interested in trying to hamstring some code to require min dex and ch for an item to be equipped?
